black eyes, easter, construction, oh my!

This has been a crazy weekend. On Saturday we had to take our poor little man to the ER. He got between a hungry Violet {our bulldog} and her breakfast. Poor guy was just trying to give Violet one of his very loving, but very violent loves. And all Violet was trying to do was eat her food as fast as she possibly could {so none of the other invisible dogs could take it from her haha}. Teyton wrapped his arms around Violets neck and had her in a full on headlock, just happy as can be. Well, Violet cocked back her head to shake him loose and consequently Teyton ended up with 2 black eyes, a bloody nose and some cuts around his nose and eyes. If you know Violet, you know she is a serious eater. An adult has to use some major force to get her away from something she wants to devour. Violet wouldn't hurt a fly she is such a sweetheart, and she protects the kids from anything she thinks is dangerous {it is really tender, and very comforting to me} but Teyton found out the hard way that he should always wait to give his loves until AFTER she has finished eating {just like Mom and Dad have been telling him all along, go figure!}.

He couldn't get stitches because the cut was too close to his eye. But they were able to glue it shut so it can properly heal.

As you can clearly see, he was very distraught the entire time and he will never do anything silly again that could end up in injury like, oh I don't know, climbing on Daddy while he is sitting on a spinning chair?

Easter was so much fun this year! We were lucky enough to have Grandma and Grandpa Abbott come and celebrate with us this year. The kids planted some magical jellybeans, and the next morning suckers and candy carrots popped up in our garden! They also got some new bikes {which they desperately needed} and have been having so much fun riding them around along with the always fun and competitive egg hunt. We were also able to have over some friends, along with the Abbotts, for Easter dinner. I just LOVE this time of year. Not only because I get to see my kids light up with the magical idea of the Easter Bunny coming, but for our Saviors love and Atoning sacrifice. I know that with out the Atonement so many things in this life or the next would not be possible. I have felt the love and the comfort brought through repentance and forgiveness. I know that this may surprise a lot of you {haha *much sarcasm used*} but I have made SO many mistakes in my life and I am pretty much positive that I will make many {MANY} more. That being said, it is a comfort to me to know that even though I may do stupid things, and in this life I will never be perfect. I know that if I just do the best that I can do and strive to be better, I don't have to worry about anything else. Our loving Heavenly Father and the Atoning Sacrifice that our Savior made for me will make up for what I lack, or just plain need help with in this life.

As I mentioned above, the Abbotts are here visiting us. Not only do we get to enjoy their company, they are also being wonderfully helpful with work that is needing to be done around the house. Here is a preview of some of the things that are being worked on as we speak. I will be posting more about it in the near future. I am so excited!!!

spring break

We had a fun filled Spring Break this year! Nothing huge or crazy {despite Kayla's planning}, just a nice, quiet {well maybe not so much the quiet part} stay at home with family and friends. It was SO BEAUTIFUL all week long! The kids had tons of fun playing out in the sunshine, while I was able to work on {and even finish} some projects! We had the Power Wheel out all week long, and Daddy even took the kids out a few times for a spin on the Harley! The kids played in the sprinklers, we had some late night family movie time. I am actually really sad that the week is almost over! Usually by the end of Spring Break I am very much ready for the School routine to be back in play haha. Kayla even put her stamp of approval on the success of Spring Break. I was {kind of} worried that after all of her planning in secret {and not so secret} to go to Utah, Disneyland, and even squeeze in a camping trip. She was so funny about it, at 7 I guess you really don't comprehend how short a week really is {or the fact that things cost money haha}. I have decided, once again, that being a Mommy is pretty much the best job ever! I really wouldn't change it for the world.

Note to self, be a little more specific {with Teyton} while telling the kids playing out in the sun, "Here is the sunscreen. Help yourself if you need to put on an extra layer."

birthday time!
