30 days of thanks

Usually November I don't like doing the, everyday post something on facebook that you are thankful for, thing.  This year was my exception. this deployment along with many other challanges I have faced the past year have been extremely hard on me.  I had been having the hardest time focusing on the positive things in life.  I know that I have been so blessed in my life, but I am human.  So for me to have something to really look at through the day when I needed a boost I decided to put them on the book of face.  The first few days were hard.  I was tempted to just write one liners down, but that wasn't what I personally needed.  So, just like I log all the amazingly cute things my kiddos say to remember.  I am going to log this for me to remember through the hard days and the trials that will cocme in life.  Maybe I should make it an annual thing.  I don't know though, I make no promises haha!

1.  I am thankful that the year is almost over, and that I have two beautiful children to fill my cloudy days with sunshine.
2.  I am grateful for the examples in my life.  I couldn't have asked for better Parents, or Grandparents.
3.  I am thankful for my brothers.  All though childhood I wished and wished for a sis.  But now that we are all grown, I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love them all so very much!

6.  I am thankful that today {Nov 6th} is the last day of this dang election!
7.  I am thankful to have the option to do what I love most in life, be a homemaker.
8.  I am thankful for my home.  I am so happy that I have one that I can make my own.  I love having color on my walls!
9.   I am thankful for my McKayla Alta Abbott. I really don't know what I did in life to deserve such a sweet, loving, and caring girl. She is so smart and inquisitive too. The things she asks and thinks about everyday just amaze me! I look forward everyday to what comes out of that little girls mouth. I cannot imagine life without her.                             10.  I am thankful for my Teyton Corey Abbott. I don't know how he accomplishes this, but he can be so sweet and loving, but truly terrifying at the same time lol! He keeps me guessing what is going to happen next. I love all of his fire and spunk. I thank God everyday for him, and cannot wait to meet the man he turns into.
11.  I am thankful for beautiful white snow!

christmas decorations

I don't know why I have such a hard time asking for help.  I know that my family. the missionaries, and good friends don't mind helping me out.  I guess I just hate the fact that I can't do everything for myself anymore.  Well, I mean I guess I could.  It just wouldn't be the smartest decision on my part haha.  My family went to work looking around the house and making lists of what needed to be fixed.  Brought out my Christmas decorations and went to work!  Let me tell you, it has been so nice to have faces on my plugs and light switches.  Sinks that don't require me to dump draino down all the time to unclog them.  Toilets that I don't have to constantly be fiddled with to stop them from running.  Actually, now that I think about it, pretty much all of these things I still would not be able to fix myself even in perfect health.  You would think growing up with all brothers, I would've picked up on some of these things.  I guess I just never worried about learning because there was always someone around to do it for me before I even realized it needed to be done.

McKayla hand stitched her name on her  stocking.  I am really impressed!

The kids broke their first wishbone.  I actually guessed wrong who was going to win.  The way they gripped onto it after the initial tug, I really didn't expect Kayla to get the bigger half!

thanksgiving day

We were all so excited to have my Mom and Dad, Jace, Andrew, and Jake over for Thanksgiving.  I love having people over!  It has been WAY too long since I have had guest over for a good time, let alone family.  Well, I guess family has come over, but it has been to take care of me and my family.  So I don't know if they would count that as having a good time haha!  I feel so bad that I was sick on Thanksgiving day!  It hit me real hard right as the turkey was prepped and ready to be cooked...you know, when all of the major things need to be done that can't be fixed before hand.  I am so glad that I pre-made a lot of the dishes.  I am also glad that my family loves to cook too.  They were all really big help!  After a long nap I felt much better and was able to at least set the table and help set out some of the dishes.  I love my family so much.  They are just amazing people.  Kayla and Teyton had a blast playing hard with Uncles.  I was really hoping that they would take missing Corey off of Teyton's mind while they were here.  But unfortunately Teyton would still go to his room and just be so sad saying that he wished that his Daddy could be there.  It is just so hard for a little boy to be away from his Daddy when they have such a close bond.  Not too much longer though!

Uncle Jace and Andrew brought Kayla and Teyton a gingerbread village to decorate.  They had so much fun doing it.  I think that gingerbread houses are their favorite part of the holiday season.  Probably because they get to snitch candy and frosting while they get creative.

After we ate all we could possibly hold, we went downstairs to watch The Amazing Spiderman!  The kids and I hadn't seen it yet.  It was really good!  SO much better than the other trilogy!  I also threw in the turkey  bones, neck, and giblets to stew while we watched the movie so I can have some yummy broth to cook with.

they're here!!!

I had a nice surprise waiting at the door Wednesday morning!  I was not expecting them to make such good time!  I was such a wonderful surprise!!  Although I don't know if they appreciated the surprise of being greeted by myself in superhero pajamas haha!  We had a fun day relaxing at first {and letting everyone catch up on sleep}.  Then we went on a walk to the park.  And our day ended at the movies.  We went to see Wreck it Wralph.  The kids loved it!  Teyton had this look on his face a good portion of the movie that looked like, "oh my gosh! this is awesome!", while Kayla cried, and laughed, and cried some more.  I love how sensitive she is at movies!

preparations for thanksgiving

I had a ton of fun getting ready for my family coming for Thanksgiving.  The only thing that would've made this the perfect holiday, is if everyone were able to get together.  But we are all grown ups now, which really sucks sometimes {okay a lot of the time}.  Stinking jobs needing us to work so we can pay our bills!  I have decided that it is way too expensive to live haha.  Oh well, one of these days we will have everyone together.  The Bastian family is in desperate need of having a COMPLETE family photo!  The last on the we have is at my wedding, so I'd say we are a bit over due!!!  Anyway, here are some pictures of the fun I had baking and getting out the pretty china.  Thank you for giving me an excuse to bring them out!  I really need to do that more often.

I have to share this picture.  This is what happens when I am baking and folding laundry all day and tell Kayla to play nicely with Teyton hahaha!

birthday time!
