easter day

We had a very fun Easter despite half of us being sick.  I went to Kayla's school to help out and her teacher said, "It sounds like you had an exciting spring break."  I thought Kayla told her about all the illness we had because I remembered her telling me that it was the worst spring break ever haha.  Well I guess as soon as she got back to school all she remembered was the exciting parts hahaha.  I am very happy about that.  I want her to remember the fun times more than the crummy parts.  So despite my inability to talk or keep down anything, and Corey's unusually swollen glands {seriously, it looked like he had a giant lump on his neck!} we had a really good day!

I love the looks on the kids face seeing the magic of the holidays.  They first had to check out their baskets and see all the goodies that were left.   Then they quickly remembered the jelly beans and rushed out to the flower box to see what had grown.  They were so much fun to watch hunt for eggs.  I have decided that next year we are going to hollow out eggs  the week before Easter, and color those instead of coloring boiled eggs.  I hate the smell of them, and nobody ever eats them! {which is the main reason, it seems like such a waste of eggs}  Now hopefully I will remember this resolution of mine haha.

easter prep

Kayla and Teyton love preparing for the holidays.  These kids had been begging to color eggs and plant our magical jelly beans about two weeks before  Easter had arrived!  Every day Kayla would ask if I had remembered to buy the jelly bean seeds. And every day I would tell her that they were in our house waiting for the right time to go into the ground. {the magic only works the night before Easter} All of their patience finally paid off!  They carefully thought about and selected the colors they wanted their eggs to be and had fun counting the right amount of drops or red, yellow, and blue, to make those colors.  I love watching the look of amazement in Teytons eyes  when he sees the colors change.  Teyton was done coloring his eggs in no time and was off to the next exciting activity he could find.  Kayla on the other hand worked so hard trying to make each of her eggs dual colored.

After that we had a low key day of watching Easter shows and talking about what Easter is really all about.  I had really wanted to go out and have a picnic at the park, but Corey and I had caught the awful bug Kayla had on her baptism day.  After afternoon snack the kids talked me into letting them plant their jelly beans.  We decided that the best place to plant them was in the window box.  So they went to work!

I cannot believe that my little Miss McKayla Bayla is old enough to be baptized!  Where has all the time gone!?  I am so proud of my little girl and the choices that she has been making.  She has the sweetest spirit, and blows me away with her understanding of the gospel.  Even Bishop remarked on how surprised he was with the answers she gave him during her interview.

Poor little girl was so sick though.  I was worried that we would have to reschedule it.  She asked Corey for a blessing and slept the better part of the day.  She insisted that she wanted to be baptized this day though, and not wait any longer.  She is a trooper.  You can tell in some of the candid pictures that she is really feeling crummy.  But she put on a smile and was so excited that today was her day!

st patty's

It is that time of year again, when those mischievous leprechauns come and pull pranks on us.  We were unable to catch one this year, but it will happen!  The kids made some pretty good traps though!  Thankfully there was no silly string or green footprints left behind this year.  They did leave a trail of clues for the kids to follow to find some small treasures.   After our treasure hunt was over, McKayla and Teyton decided that we needed to have green eggs and green pancakes for breakfast to start our day off right.

girl scout zoo trip, and teyton time

Kayla has been so excited to go on her overnight Girl Scout Zoo Trip.  I really wish I could've gone with her, but it just didn't work out that way.  Next time, hopefully I will be able to make it happen.  She had a ton of fun with all of her friends.  Learning about all the animals, feeding and petting a bunch of them, and spending the night in a fun cabin.  She said that her very favorite thing was petting the skunk, and seeing all of the cute baby animals.  She seemed to be a big fan of the hedgehogs haha.

While Kayla was having her fun with the Girl Scouts, we decided to give Teyton some fun time.  We asked him what he wanted to do, and he said that he wanted pancakes for dinner, and make a fort to watch a movie and sleep in.  Easy enough!  That boy is very low maintenance.  Corey had a lot of fun building the best fort to date for that little man!

birthday time!
