campout!

One of our favorite weekend activities is indoor camping.  Ever since I got the kids their very own sleeping bags, they use it every chance they get.  Actually Teyton was ready to give away his bed.  He told me in the store, "We can give Cody my car bed Mommy.  I will sleep in this now.".  I don't know what he would do if I actually took him up on that.  Actually, he probably wouldn't mind all that much.  Kayla on the other hand, after her first experience she was like, "The ground is so hard to sleep on Mommy!".  So we make sure to have a little padding underneath her now.

well worth the wait

One of Teyton's Christmas gifts was a Hot Wheels track that he had his eye on for the longest time.  Well, I guess I didn't learn my lesson from his Birthday present fiasco.  I spent a long while on Christmas morning trying to put the dang thing together and finally gave up out of frustration.  I am proud to say that I finally figured it out!  On my own!  Before Corey came home!  Astonishing, I know.  {seriously, even the location of the on switch was a chore to find!}  The kids didn't seem to mind the wait.  They have been playing with it every chance they get.  It is incredibly noisey...but they have oh so much fun while playing with it!

meet moose

We have a new addition to our little family.  Moose, the very handsome and lovable English Bulldog!  He has settled right in with our family.  He and Violet are best friends.  Now, we just need to get them both fixed, and I will be able to let them play together unsupervised haha!

Look at that smooshy face!!!  I love bulldogs!  They are so ugly it makes them ridiculously cute!

responsibility

I have loved these kids having guinea pigs.  It has really been teaching them some good life skills.  They have actually been really good at making sure all their needs are met, and get plenty of play/cuddle time.  Kayla said that there are 5 rules for owning guinea pigs.

1. They have to have water.
2. They need to have plenty of food and veggies everyday.
3. Their cage has to be cleaned so they don't get stinky, and make the house stinky.
4. They need to have toys.
5. They need to be given lots of love and attention.

I'd say that she is pretty smart for her young age.  Teyton was the one that I was really concerned about.  But he has been wonderful!  He is so soft with them, and doesn't complain about helping out with the feeding and cleaning of the cage.  If you can believe it, they were actually fighting over who got to clean the most haha!  We will see how long that lasts....

faith in god

With the new year I was wanting to renew my Activity Girls drive for completing their Faith in God requirements.  Personally, I like having something tangible to shoot for.  I remember in Activity Days, and even Young Women earning necklaces after passing off certain requirements.  I still have mine and I am looking forward to passing them down to my McKayla eventually.  It made me so sad when I found out that the girls aren't awarded with those nice pendants anymore.  So I did some research, looked at my budget, and found something that we could do on our own!  I am super excited about it!  So here it is!!!

So, these girls will be working on earning some charms for a charm bracelet.  The very first charm that they earn comes with the bracelet.  That is the CTR charm that they will receive on their baptism day.   Now there are different groups of requirements for the girls to pass off in order to earn their Faith in God certificate.

1. They need to memorize all 13 Articles of Faith.  For this one they earn a charm that says believe, since they all start out as, "We believe..."

2. Serving Others:  To earn this charm they have to pass off a minimum of 8 activities that are listed in both the Faith in God pamphlet, and in the binders that each girl is given.  The charm for this one is a heart.

3.  Learning and Living the Gospel:  To earn this charm they have to pass off a minimum of 8 activities that are listed in both the Faith in God pamphlet, and in the binders that each girl is given.  The charm for this  is a Book of Mormon.

4. Developing Talents:  To earn this charm they have to pass off a minimum of 8 activities that are listed in both the Faith in God pamphlet, and in the binders that each girl is given.  The charm for this one is a star.

5. Preparing for Young Women:  In this section all of the activities need to be passed off when they are 11 years old {not before}.  The charm that is earned after everything is signed off, is the Young Women torch.

After all of the block above are passed off, along with daily prayer, scripture study, and keeping the commandments.  The girls need to write down their testimony and finally have an interview with the Bishop.  After this, they will receive their last charm.  The Faith in God charm, which says faith.
