field trip

I had so much fun going with Teyton and his class to the Fountain Nature Center.  We saw so many neat things and learned about all of the nocturnal animals that live around the area and why they are important.  I don't think that a lot of the parents were thinking though.  Hardly any of the kids were sent with water bottles!  We did a lot of long nature walks and saw deer, beautiful birds, ducks, geese, rabbits, and turtles.  But those poor little kids were so thirsty!  I finally got to the point that I wiped the nozzle of my water bottle in between each child and let them have a drink.  I know that that isn't the most sanitary thing, but they were getting red in the face, and I thought it was a better alternative to heat stroke!  It was a pretty warm day outside!  After all was said and done, we let the kiddos get out the last of their energy on the fun playground at the Nature Center.  You know that kids re worn out when multiple kids come up to you and say, "Can we please be done playing and go back to school!?"  Poor Teyton was so tired.  And when he gets tired he is very touchy feely.  He especially like to rub ears.  He was coming up behind little Brandy and Abigail rubbing their arms and ears.  They had a look on their face like, okaaaay, what is going on here?  So I had him sit on my lap and rub on my ears while they waited to get on the bus.  Hee had a ton of fun though!  He wants to go back soon so that he and Kayla can climb the big tree that he found.  Maybe if we head out early enough we can see the beavers working on their dams and dens.

dress rehearsal ~ the king and i

McKayla's Musical Theater Class is coming to a close.  All of their hard work is finally coming together.  I got to sit in on their dress rehearsal.  Oh my goodness!  I am one proud Momma!  I was smiling ear to ear the entire time.  McKayla did so well!  She didn't miss a line, and she was so good at exaggerating her movements and {quietly and discreetly} helping the other kids out when they forgot what they were suppose to be doing.  I cannot wait for the big day so that I can record it all for you to see, if I can get it to load up on here that is.

soccer

Teyton has been having fun with the soccer season.  He has so much energy, I really don't know where he gets it all from.  It is so funny to watch these kids play.  They are trying so hard to listen to coach and play their right positions.  But more often than not, the game turns into a mass of 5 and 6 year old chasing the ball and when they get a chance to kick it.  They kick it as hard as they can in whatever direction it is currently going.  Even if it is toward the other teams goal, or out of bound towards us parents hahaha!  They are getting better though....well Teyton and a handful of other kids are at least.

general conference

It has been years since I have been able to just sit and watch all of the session of conference.  In one sitting.  And, at the time of the actual broadcast!  I made a decision that I needed to have a serious game plan to get the kids excited and engaged so that Corey and I could actually hear the wonderful talks that were prepared and given for us.  I got on pinterest and gathered ideas and got to work on a General Conference board for the kiddos to be in charge of. That way they would watch and pay attention to who was talking, and listen for the messages that they were learning.  Teyton had fun with it the first session, but the last few he just wanted to build with his legos.  I thought that was perfectly fine though!  That is what they were there for!  McKayla was all about moving the little tabs and picture around.  I was so excited that my {borrowed} idea worked!  Along with the conference board, we had legos {to build their own temple}, snacks that the kids help pick out, and so we didn't have any argument over who sits where, and "That's my spot!!!!" scenarios I had some special rugs for them to sit on that we will only pull out for General Conference.  It felt so good on so many levels to have this event run so smoothly!

                Even Moose was nice and relaxed!

new carpet!!!!

We finally got our new carpet installed!!!  I am so excited that I no longer have to look at the ugly mix matched stairs {as a result of a certain mischievous puppy!}  It was quite the ordeal getting everything ready.  I think that next time.....a very long time from now....we will just pay the extra money to have them move our furniture.  It will be worth it!  We got such a good deal on the carpet though!  We were originally planning on doing the basement only.  But after getting the quote with the sale price, we bit the bullet and did it! {$0.85 a sq ft!!! When do you ever find decent carpet at that price!?}
