birthday party

McKayla and Teyton had so much fun at their friend birthday party.  Right before it started they were riding their bikes out front in their swim suits {even though I told them it wasn't a smart idea!}.  Sure enough, Kayla crashes her bike and got some major road rash.  Hopefully now they will take me more seriously when I tell them something isn't a smart idea.  I still can't figure out how this poor girl managed to scrape up her forehead and knee.  That must have been one awkward fall!

After we got her all cleaned up it was time to run across the street and have fun with all the kids at Riley and Garrets party!  They had a ton of fun playing on the bow-up water slide, and smacking pinatas around, and all of the other fun things that come with birthday parties!

what to do on a hot summer day

I am 12 weeks pregnant now, and am so extremely excited to have another little one to add to our family.  This pregnancy is just really kicking my butt!  After struggling through grocery shopping, we droped off lunch for Corey.  While we were there, we took a tiny break at his work so the kids could get some energy out, and so I could compose myself so I could make the trip home without having to pull over {again} to throw up.  The kids had so much fun!

My poor kids have been dying to go swimming or go to a splash park.  The problem is, that I have a hard time being out for any stretch of time since my morning sickness {aka~all day long sickness} has kicked in.  Afterward we got home the kids were begging to play in some sort of water.  I told Kayla and Teyton that when I was little, we didn't have splash parks, and asked if they wanted to experience how I played in the water when I was little.  So I pulled out two big buckets, filled them up, turned on the sprinklers and told them to have at it!  Sometimes you end up having the most fun with the simplest at home solutions.

activity days luau

All of the Activity Day girls have been planning out a quarterly activity to pass off one of the requirements for their Faith in God award.  We decided that it would be fun to have a summer luau potluck party.  The girls had fun coming up with some different games to play.  We did have to pick and choose, they had some crazy ideas, super fun, but near impossible to make happen haha.  We started out the activity with the potluck, I had a bit of technical difficulties getting Jonny Lingo to play for the girls.  So while I figured that out {okay while Corey figured it out}, they had a good time eating and visiting with one another.  About half way through their meal we got the movie to work!  I have to say that Jonny Lingo is one of my favorite Church videos!  I think that the girls enjoyed it, it certainly has a very important message about the value of ALL of God's children.  I could tell by looking at McKayla's face during the beginning of the movie that she had no idea where the movie and message was going, haha.  But, I know that she loved it because when we came home she wanted to watch it again.  After eating and watching the video we had a hawaiian dance off, a limbo contest, a costume contest, and we ended the activity with a water balloon fight outside.  All in all I think it was a great activity!  It is near impossible to have a bad time playing with these girls!

4th of july

I have felt rather jipped since we have bought our first home.  One of the things I was most looking forward to, was being able to set off our own fireworks in our front yard!  Unfortunately, every year since we have moved to Colorado Springs, there has been some horrible fire and so there has been bans, and even cancellations of the big firework shows!  We have still been able to make our own fun though.  We all went out and bought some silly string and air poppers and had a great time spraying each other outside.  The kids also helped me make some homemade peach ice cream, which we ate while watching a family movie downstairs.

birthday time!
